Objectives of the Program

The program aimed to create awareness among students about the dangers of drug abuse and to educate them on the legal consequences associated with drug-related activities. It also focused on promoting safe driving practices and enhancing road safety awareness. Additionally, the program emphasised the importance of wearing helmets as a crucial measure for personal safety.

The event witnessed the active participation of 78 students, making it a meaningful and impactful awareness initiative. The program was held in the presence of Mr Jerry Prashant, Director, MCAS and presided over by Dr T. Jeyachandran, Principal, MCAS. The Principal welcomed the gathering and introduced the resource persons.

The resource persons for the session were the Inspector of Police and the Sub-Inspector of Police of Vengal Police Station. During the session, they addressed the students on critical social and safety issues, focusing primarily on drug abuse and its harmful consequences. The speakers clearly explained how drug addiction can negatively affect physical health, mental stability, family relationships and future career prospects.

In addition to drug awareness, the officers emphasised road safety measures, highlighting the importance of wearing helmets while riding two-wheelers. They explained how helmets significantly reduce the risk of fatal head injuries and stressed the need for responsible driving habits. Students were also advised to avoid speeding and reckless driving, which are major causes of road accidents.

The program concluded with an interactive session where the students clarified their doubts and shared their views. On the whole, the Anti-Drug Awareness Program was highly informative and successful in instilling awareness, responsibility and safety consciousness among the students.

Learning Outcomes

The program enabled students to gain a clear understanding of the harmful effects of drugs and develop awareness about the legal penalties associated with drug usage and trafficking. It also helped students understand the importance of road discipline and safe driving practices. On the whole, the session fostered a sense of responsibility among students towards personal safety and social well-being.
