Farewell and Initiation to MAGNA Old Student Association (MOSA)
The Farewell and Initiation to MAGNA Old Student Association (MOSA) was organized with the objective of bidding goodbye to the outgoing students and to strengthen alumni engagement and foster a sense of continuity between outgoing students and the institution.
The programme began with a prayer song which set a formal and reflective tone to the event.
Mr N Venkatesan, Dept of Commerce, while welcoming the gathering highlighted the significance of alumni networks in supporting institutional growth and student development.
Ms S Nandhini, III B Com (G) said that the good deliverance of the academic content, rigorous testing methods and appropriate remedial action by the dedicated faculty was of immense help in shaping her academic journey. She expressed her gratitude for this.
Ms M Manju, III BCA said that she cannot forget the Onam, Christmas, Pongal, Sports, Cultural celebrations conducted in the college and said that she carries happy memories of her stay in the college.
Ms S Vidyalakshmi, III BBA thanked the college for the encouragement she received in participating in the State Level and inter – collegiate competitions. She said that to peak it all she is going out with a job and thanked the Placement and Training Cell for the effort.
Dr G Geetha, Dept of Commerce, said that it gives her immense pleasure as she is addressing HR Executives of Flipkart, Network Engineers of ACT Fibernet, upcoming entrepreneurs, industrialist, politicians and teachers. She recalled the discussion she had with them beyond the syllabus on social issues and its causes. She appreciated the students’ participation in various classroom activities and this has set a benchmark for the juniors of the college. She expressed her wish that the outgoing students reach the top most position in their career and become responsible citizens of this country.
Mrs R Esther Martina, Dept of Business Administration said that today is a special and historic day as she is bidding farewell to the first batch of Magna College of Arts and Science. She said that though their strength was small, their impact has been significant. With a quote from A P J Abdul Kalam, she explained that dreams can shape the future when supported by courage, perseverance and learning from failures. She concluded with a parting advice to the students to carry with them resilience, curiosity and determination throughout their life journey and wished them success in making their mark in the future.
Mr S Thirumalai, Dept of Computer Science and Applications congratulated the students on achieving this important milestone in their lives. He said that taking into account the poor educational and social background of their parents, what they had achieved is highly commendable. He concluded with a powerful message, பத்து தலைமுறையின் ஏழ்மையை ஒரு தலைமுறையின் படிப்பு சரி செய்யும்.
Dr T Jeyachandran, Principal in his address highlighted the importance of alumni association. He narrated various instances in the previous colleges he worked wherein old students regularly meet. He said that such occasions brought them closer personally and also mutually helped them in their professional career. He said he hoped to see the outgoing students again and again in the college campus.
Mr Jerry Prashant, Director narrated how when he sat for admission 3 years ago, the students and their parents had several questions regarding the availability of qualified staff, the amenities in the college and student placement. He said that they themselves have the answers to these questions now. He said how they came to the college on the first day as a blank paper and how the teachers have converted them into a finished art.
Mrs Ruby Devadas, Vice Chairperson congratulated all the outgoing students for having successfully completed their academic journey. She said that stepping out of this college is not the end but a new beginning because life outside the college will bring them new challenges, responsibilities and opportunities. She urged them to go confidently in the direction of their dreams and live the life they have imagined.
Mr J Devadas Nayagam, Chairman thanked the students and parents for the confidence they had in admitting them in this college. He pointed out that a Magna student is always different from their peers in other colleges and urged the students to live in accordance with the college motto: For greater things I am born”. He said that though parting is painful, it is inevitable because the society needs them and their parents need them.
The outgoing students were then initiated as members of Magna Old Student Association by taking a pledge. In the ensuing elections, the following members were elected as office bearers of MOSA

Ms M Mercy, III BCA proposed a vote of thanks. She acknowledged the contributions of all dignitaries, teachers, organizers and participants for the smooth conduct of the function.
A photograph session was conducted to commemorate the occasion, followed by lunch that provided an opportunity for informal interaction and networking.
Overall, the event successfully achieved its objective of creating a strong alumni foundation while fostering a sense of belonging and institutional pride among outgoing students.
