Objectives of the Programme:

The primary objective of the programme was to create awareness among women students about various cybercrimes and online threats prevalent in the digital environment. The programme aimed to educate students on cyber safety measures and the legal remedies available to protect themselves against cyber offences. It also sought to familiarize students with the procedures for registering cybercrime complaints through appropriate legal and online platforms. Further, the programme emphasized promoting responsible, ethical, and safe use of digital platforms and social media among women students.

Details of the Programme:

The Awareness Programme on Cyber Crime against Women was organized in association with the Tamil Nadu Police Department on 13th August 2025 at Lincoln Seminar Hall. The programme aimed at educating girl students about the growing cyber threats faced by women in the digital era.

Ms Vidhyalakshimi (III BBA) welcomed the dignitaries, resource person, faculty members, and students. This was followed by an introduction of the Chief Guest by Ms. Esther Martina, Assistant Professor, Department of Business Administration, highlighting the significance of cyber awareness among women.

The Resource Person, Mr.S.Santhoshkumar, Sub-Inspector of Police from the Cyber Crime Unit, Avadi Commissionerate, delivered an informative session covering various forms of cybercrimes such as cyber stalking, online harassment, identity theft, phishing, and misuse of social media. The speaker explained cyber laws, safety precautions, and the step-by-step procedure for filing cybercrime complaints. Real-life case examples were shared, making the session practical and impactful.

The programme was interactive, and students actively participated in the discussion and clarified their doubts during the question-and-answer session.

The programme concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Harsha (III B.Com General), expressing gratitude to the resource person, Tamil Nadu Police Department, Management, faculty members and participants.

Outcome of the Programme

The programme enabled students to gain clear awareness of various cyber-crimes committed against women. Participants learned effective preventive measures to ensure online safety and protect personal information. The session also enhanced students’ understanding of cyber laws and the available mechanisms for reporting cybercrimes. Overall, the programme empowered students to use digital platforms confidently, safely and responsibly.
